You may have snuck a peak at these photos over at Style Me Pretty.com as they were recently featured on that awesome wedding blog. You may have also noticed that Briana and Mike are just plain awesome. I mean, beer in a bathtub? Live music? Floating Fire Latern? Games? Awesome!

They are so down to earth and sweet and that was exactly how their wedding felt. Held in Borrego Springs, CA at a private residence they utilized the gorgeous desert landscaping and then infused it with their own relaxed personalities. They had such great details that made the day seem like a relaxed summer picnic. They even set up game stations for their guests to enjoy during cocktail hour and the reception. Including croquette, darts, horseshoe..even poker! Briana and Mike even spent the months before their wedding collecting cool goblets, glasses, and steins for their favors and set them on a tiered stand that mike built. They also cut their center piece wood stands themselves and used wildflowers to fill the vases in the middle. Those are just a few of the awesome details. undefined undefined

You might have seen a few of these photos already on the awesome LaBelleBride.com. Anha and Nic’s session was featured a few weeks ago and I am so excited to be able to share it on the blog now! Talk about inspiration and style, it’s no wonder they are so amazing in front of the camera as they are photographers themselves (Anha is also a fab makeup artist). They rocked out their beautiful Agoura hills engagement and even had a pillow fight! I love how Anha styled them..it was a loose ‘cowboys and indians theme’ for their first look and I think they pulled it off with gorgeous subtlety. So check out their rockin photos. I absolutely cannot wait to see all the gorgeous details they come up with for the big day.

When I met with Tasha and Mike I was so excited for a few reasons. 1) Not only are they artists (animators to be exact) but we went to the same school (CalARTS)! Our attendance even overlapped so we more than likely had past each other in the halls a few times.  and 2) When talking about their engagement session they more than hinted at their love for Disneyland. Awesome! I happen to be an avid Disneyland lover myself, even having a season pass. It seemed like the perfect spot for their session.

When planning our day we decided on a weekday, a Wednesday. A Wednesday during school season we thought would at least be a little less busy and we would be able to roam a bit. Boy were we wrong! Since I am almost always shooting on weekends I tend to make Disneyland days weekdays and I have never seen the place so packed on a weekday. Even still, we had an awesome time ducking through crowds and finding nooks to shoot in.

I cannot wait for their wedding this weekend in Malibu at Rancho de Cielo.

We fought through torrential rain and hurricane force winds, desperately trying to shield our equipment from the elements while we sprinted out to the car in Thousand Oaks on the morning of Elly and Daniel’s University Club (University of California Irvine) wedding. We got onto the 101 South and watched in awe as the huge trees on the sides of the road were shaken and torn by the wind like a rag doll in the mouth of our dog. Our windshield wipers screamed in rhythmic futility as sheets of water ceaselessly poured over our car. Having some knowledge of the location, we knew the ceremony was planned to be in the lovely outdoor garden area of UC Irvine. We didn’t say anything as we started our journey, but we were both wondering “how is Elly going to react to all of this?”

We made the exciting (to put it mildly) drive down to the house in Newport Beach, where Elly and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The rain had slowed to a drizzle, but the wind obliterated our umbrellas less than 10 feet from our car and blasted our faces with sand. We stopped at the front door and exchanged the look of two adventurers, about to jump from the safety of an aircraft into the unknown wilderness below. In our wildest dreams we could not have imagined what we would find behind that door.

Elly was fine. No, not just fine. “Fine” would suggest that she was just “keeping it together,” gracefully taking bad news in stride while the makeup artist tried to deal with puffy eyes from that morning’s tears. That was not Elly. Elly was radiant, and beautiful as she laughed with her friends in anticipation of her big day. Standing in that room, (aside from one light hearted joke from Elly about the “storm of the century outside”) you would think that she had not looked outside all morning.  We did not see one sad tear fall all day. The same held true for Daniel.

Truly, they were and are an amazing, classy couple with a solid grip on what mattered most at their wedding. We felt blessed to play our part in their big day.
