Where do we even start with this wedding and these two?! We met Emily a while back through her fantastic sister Abigail (whose wedding we also shot and was awesome) and have gotten to know their family a bit. We absolutely adore Emily + Sven and their families.

This wedding was equal parts stunning (I mean, just check out Emily’s stunning wedding dress! Perfection) and relaxed. They had their closest friends around them and instead of an official wedding party they were called the “Love Crew.” Emily + Sven opted to forgo some of the typical traditions and spend their time busting it out on the dance floor (and yes, some Spice Girls and N’Sync did come out and it was glorious). Emily works for Puma and her pals over there also bedazzled her some amazing sneakers for her special day.

These two could not be more nice and sincere and madly in love. It was seriously a joy to be around them all day and we just smile every time we look back through their photos. Be ready for a long blog post…but just know..it could be much, much longer with how much love and awesomeness this wedding was filled with.

Katy and Andrew’s Santa Barbara Historical Museum wedding had something that we had never seen before (which is quite a feat since we have photographed about 250 weddings!) and we cannot recommend enough for everyone who likes getting the conversation going with some fun drinking games: a Spanish porron vessel.

The Spanish porron vessel is like a wine decanter from which you can pour a thin stream of wine into your mouth. The fun thing is that you can pull the porron vessel away from your face and pour wine into your mouth from a distance. When Katy and Andrew went from table to table to visit their guests, they shared this fun drinking aid and created a memorable experience for all of their guests. It was the epitome of what we love most about modern weddings: that brides and grooms often use their weddings as an opportunity to share fun and unique experiences with all of their friends and families.

Big thanks to Style Me Pretty for sharing this gorgeous wedding!

Lauren - Wow! I love the location of this wedding. Such beautiful photographs! Thanks for sharing.ReplyCancel

Kelly and Chris’ Diablo Dormido wedding (a.k.a. Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve wedding, a.k.a Ahmanson Ranch wedding… does anyone know what that place is actually called nowadays? We digress…) was a perfect example of just how awesome a wedding can be, even when it is a little cloudy.

As we mentioned in our post of their engagement session, Kelly and Chris are diehard fans of UCLA and USC, which makes them an unlikely, but remarkably adorable match. The day was filled with laughter and there was a running joke about Chris and his mom being “criers,” so there were more touching moments happening than we can possibly cram into single blog post.

Emotional wedding days are awesome, but what made this wedding over-the-top, face-melting-awesomeness were some surprises that their families had up their sleeves. During dinner, Kelly’s mom arranged for the UCLA Spirit Team and mascot to show up! Not to be outdone, later in the reception Chris’ mom arranged for the USC marching band to show up and play a few songs! Both were total surprises to Kelly and Chris and both were SO much fun! Enjoy!
